I was a 2006 Democrat for US Congress, District 1, Kansas.

(KS-01) Thank you friends.

Friends, thank you for your support and your votes in this recent election. Although I didn't win my specific race in our district - Americans won on November 7th. We all are winners.

American families all over the United States made their voices heard at the polls. They said that our country is headed in the wrong direction - and that together, we must change it.

For more than a year, many of you have poured your hearts and souls into this campaign. You made phone calls, walked neighborhoods, talked to friends, hosted events, donated your hard-earned money, and you have given so much of yourselves. I cannot possibly describe how grateful I am for your efforts. We ran a hard-fought campaign we can all be proud of, based on a positive agenda for a new direction. We know that we can be stronger as a nation when we face our challenges head on, demand truthful answers, and work in a bi-partisan, respectful way to achieve our common goals.

(KS-01) Now is the time. I'm asking for your support.

It is time for change.

My name is John Doll, and I am running for Congress because my experience as a father, a teacher, and a businessman tells me that the country is headed in the wrong direction - and that together, we can change it.

The politicians in Washington, DC are out of touch. The special interests and lobbyists have too much power. It's time to take our country in a different direction. Instead, I will focus on your priorities: keeping our promises to our veterans, protecting Social Security and pensions, standing up to big oil companies, and making sure that families who work hard and play by the rules get the opportunities they've earned.

(KS-01) Crunch Time - Let's Take the House Back!

Volunteers - Netroots - We Continue to Need Your Help!

We are in crunch time now three weeks left before Election Day!  We continue to need your help, folks!

We have many volunteers from across the 69 counties of the First District but we need more if we want to take back control of our Congress.  I promise you that I will not be outworked, but I can't do it alone. I need you and your continued help.

I've got some ideas for you! Click "more"!!!!

(KS-01) Kansas need YOU! I need you!

Kansas Volunteers Needed Now! We need your help!

I need your help, folks! I am strictly running a grassroots campaign, fueled by volunteerism and helping hands from hundreds of volunteers throughout the 69 counties of the Kansas 1st Congressional District. Kansans want a change. Kansans are tired of the same old, same old rubberstamping smiling and affable congressman they have now. He gives free tax money and tax supported gifts to mega-profitable corporations and ill-advised wars, while simultaneously cutting funds to education, agriculture, health care, Medicare, veterans benefits and many other essential services and safety nets. His priorities are all wrong.

Our country is headed down the wrong path. Jerry Moran has rubberstamped all of Bush's wrong-headed plans. It's time we get our government back! We must right the wrongs before it is too late. Kansans are hurting and our government is not serving. While we lack the huge bank account that Jerry Moran has, we have the heart, the will and the determination to win this campaign. (KS-01) An American State that is No Longer Red

It is often said that Kansas is a red state and that my district, District 1, is the most red of all. Folks, that definition no longer describes the big 1st District of Kansas. One must consider this - the 2002 gubernatorial race in Kansas. A relatively unknown politician, Kathleen Sebelius, a Democrat that believes in affordable healthcare that works for all citizens, ran for Kansas governor.

Not only did Kathleen Sebelius win the majority of votes in Kansas - she also won the majority of votes in my district. Keep in mind, this was at a time when Bush's approval rating was high. I suggest that we view Kansas, and particularly my district, as a typical American district. Not red, not blue - American.

As candidate for US Congress traveling my district, I had an opportunity to visit Meade Kansas this past week and & hope many others will also. The owners of the historic Lakeway Hotel in Meade Kansas, a town in my district of about 2,000, started flying a rainbow flag on the pole outside their restaurant and bed and breakfast. The rainbow flag flew just below their proud American flag. As a result, they have been the recipients of vandalism, terrorism, intolerance and bigotry.

The couple that owns this lovely hotel explain that the flag was a gift to his parents from their 12-year old son. The young son gave the flag to his Mom and Dad because it reminded him of Kansas and "The Wizard of Oz."

(KS-01) George Bush flips and flops and this Congress lets him

This President Flip Flops Regarding His Poorly-Defined Goals and Strategies for Iraq

We have so much at stake today in Iraq - our reputation, our relationships with our allies, our treasury, our tax-payer money, our growing national debt, the tens of thousands of US servicemen and woman being injured and disabled, and most gravely, the continuing loss of US life there. It is way past time to hold this Bush accountable for his flip-flopping.

During all of 2002, Bush talked about "regime change" in Iraq, long before our mission in Afghanistan was complete (and it is still not complete there). When "regime change" didn't go over well with the American public, Bush changed his language and started talking about "weapons of mass destruction". He said (which turned out to be bad evidence or just bold faced lies) that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

(Kansas - District 1) This Congress is NOT honoring our military.

As US Congressional Candidate for Kansas District 1, I talk to hundreds of Kansans every week on the campaign trail. When on the road the question that I get asked the most is my opinion of the Iraq War.

For the record, I was against the Iraq War before it started; my opinion hasn't changed. As the horrific war has lingered on we have had well over 2,500 hundred brave American men and women killed in Iraq. Over 15,000 thousand soldiers have been wounded, and some statistics show the true American casualties may total closer to 20,000.

Over 300 Americans have lost their lives due to inadequate body armor. Another concern of our soldiers is our use of Depleted Uranium.  Many veterans claim that Depleted Uranium causes (1) leukemia (2) kidney damage (3) Gulf War Syndrome.

Our government policy of "STOP LOSS" makes it so our soldiers may have to serve additional tours after their particular tour is complete.

(KS-1) We Have Harmed Those Least Able to Tell Us About It

Our Congress has made life easier for large corporations, many of which pay few taxes and outsource their workers overseas anyway - while simultaneously making life more difficult for the vulnerable, particularly senior citizens that are no longer able to "pull themselves up by their bootstraps."

I am running for the US Congress in 2006 because I am outraged. Our policies are wrong. Our Congress is dangerous and creates harm for the vulnerable among us. It angers me that our current Congress has cut deeply into programs that serve citizens that are the least able to stand up for themselves or speak out on their own behalf.

Medicare now provides health insurance to virtually every American over 65 and millions of younger people with disabilities. Under a Democratic Administration, the life of the Medicare Trust Fund was extended by 25 years. But recent congressional policies and this uncertain economy have undermined the strong progress made in decades past. This year, the life of the Medicare Trust Fund actually was shortened by four years. And Medicare is currently projected to become insolvent in the middle of the retirement of the baby boom generation if things remain the same.
